Neighbouring Mango Tree

It stood proud once.

Last week it fell down, its shallow roots could not stand the strong wind and the damp earth around it. It blocked the road. The resident came together to cut it and finally the Town Hall people came to finish the job and to clear the bushes that blocked the road.

The leaves and the cut branches were stacked by the roadside awaiting for the rubbish collecting contractor to take them away.

Unfortunately the rubbish collecting contractor takes a few days (maybe longer) to come and collect the rubbish. And some unfriendly neighbours decided that where the cut leaves and branches are, a convenient place to place his/her garden rubbish. Most assumptious! Lukily he/she put her garden rubbish nicely in plastic bags.

'Puttu-mayam Man'

Our very own 'puttu-mayam' man. He come every money on his motor bike, honking his motorbike horn to announce his presence.
'Puttu-mayam' is damp home made vercemalli eaten with grated coconut and sugar from coconut stem juice. Its normally eaten for breakfast. But sometimes 'puttu-mayam' may also be eaten with curry.
